Welcome to the Batiks Go Retro Blog Hop, and the introduction of my first fabric line with Island Batik, Batiks Go Retro! If you've been following me on Instagram, you have seen some sneak peeks at projects in the Batiks Go Retro line, as well as shots of some of the fabrics. Well, now it's time to finally see it all!!!
How did Batiks Go Retro come about? As a child of the 60s (yes, dating myself), I grew up with the Jetsons and dreams of a flying spaceship car and a friendly robot maid. And who didn't have some version of the Sputnik style chandelier and the sunburst wall hanging? The shapes of the time spoke of possibilities, of fun, of future. I wanted to capture all of that hope and energy in my first line, with a nod to tradition and a twist of current colors. Tada - Batiks Go Retro.
The line features soft to bright colors in oranges, teals, blues and purples, with fun retro TVs, atomic wedges, free flying flowers, Sputnik inspired lines and of course the icon starbursts.
My favorite? A mother never has favorites, right? Ok, ok......I DO have a favorite. The little atomic TVs are near and dear to me. In fact, come back later in the hop to see a project featuring those little guys, as well as my new pattern lineup featuring Batiks Go Retro!
And speaking of the hop - I've asked several designer friends to create projects using my first line, and they will be posting during the next two weeks, sharing their luscious creations with you. And I think there just might be a prize or two (or a bunch!) for all of you blog hoppers.
The fabulous folks at Island Batik and Aurifil are also joining in the fun and will have great things to share with you as well!
