I'm so thrilled to introduce my latest fabric line, Globetrotter, for the fabulous folks at Island Batik! Here's the perfect way to indulge your wanderlust - no passport, no plane tickets, no luggage required!
As you can see, the line was inspired by travel - and the fabric features many of those icons and symbols we associate with travel: luggage, luggage tags, locator and travel signs, and of course famous sites to visit (that are definitely on my bucket list - the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Taj Mahal).
Fabrics are shipping now - hopefully your local quilt shop has stocked up and have the fabrics ready for you!
And of course I'm equally excited about the projects! While I like to build my stash and admire my fabrics in lovely stacks on the shelf, I also LOVE to stitch quilts - I mean, don't we all??? Right!
Pointed Comments: I've expanded the Guided Improv project offering with two NEW guided improv projects for this collection. Pointed Comments is a beginner friendly pattern, offering a table runner and easy placemats, as a terrific introduction and a small scale project. And yes - it is available on the website! My pattern testers LOVED it - and I just hosted a quilt along on my FB group (Tamarinis Quilting Tribe). Not a member? Well join now - we'll be doing some more quilt alongs soon!
To the Point: A more advanced Guided Improv project, To the Point offers a bit of a challenge (but not too much!). I've added a helpful downloadable label document, which is super helpful when cutting all of the pieces for this project! I found that it helped me keep track of what I had cut AND where the pieces would go when putting the quilt together. AND I set the pattern up so that it can be done as a 12 month Block of the Month pattern. I know - not what you think of when you think of Block of the Month projects - but breaking this down into 12 "doable" sections makes it very approachable! And yes - it too is available now on the website.
Flock: Paper piecing fanatics - not to worry! I didn't forget about you! Flock offers a bit of a challenge as well, with not only paper pieced units, but partial seam construction. But it is well worth the effort! And in case you are wondering - it was inspired, as the name suggests, by flocks of birds. Have you ever seen a flock of birds rise into the air? Yes - that's the movement and energy I was trying to capture with Flock! And yes, it too is on the website!
And these are just the projects I created with the Globetrotter line. Stay with us this week as other designers share their fabulous creations with this fun line.
The blog hop schedule is listed below - so come back each day and visit with all of the talented folks that stitched up awesome wonders.
Of course we have a give away too! The generous folks at Island Batik are sending one lucky winner a fabulous stack of fabric - how terrific is that?! To win, simply enter via the Gleam widget at the bottom of the post. Good luck to you - and thanks for visiting!
Thanks for sharing the quilting passion with me. Happy stitching!
