Have you seen Teresa Mairal's newest book, Turnabout Patchwork? No? Well, warm up the credit card and head to your nearest quilt shop - or Amazon - pick up a copy! Or head over to Teresa's website here - of course she has it! It is chock full of fun, easy blocks with a twist on the traditional. And she gives you tons of easy options for creating quick to piece quilts using the blocks.
I worked with her easy peasy quarter snowball block. Fun! I chose the Sun Dunes layout, which reminded me of mountains. Perfect for this adorable llama fabric!
The great thing about a crib quilt is, well, it's small, so it stitches up SUPER quick! And it makes a great wall hanging too!
One thing to consider when using this layout - and others. Think about directional fabric. All of my fabrics - except one - were non-directional. Can you spot the directional fabric? Yup - that awesome red horizontal stripe.
Concerned about directional fabrics? Because the blocks are easy, this is a TERRIFIC opportunity to hone your directional fabric use skills! Just slow down, take your time, and plan your block placement so you can determine the orientation of the fabric. Ta da!
So your takeaway? Go slow. Plan out your blocks. If you want stress free - choose non-directional fabrics.
