Kate and I have explored several aspects of quilting with you over the past few months, and even did a fun quilt along (who has finished their project?). We are pleased to introduce our new series, Exploring the Basics.
What can you expect to see in the series? Well, we plan to talk about the components of a project - everything from choosing a project to selecting fabric to prepping your sewing space.
What it is:
- a series of posts you can refer to over and over again when those nagging questions come up, like what weight thread is recommended for piecing verses quilting? Or what is the difference between polyester batting and cotton batting, and why might I chose one over the other? How can I use a large scale print to inspire my color scheme for my project? The pros and cons of directional fabric. What needle do I use for piecing? You get the idea, right?
What it isn't:
- this series is NOT a tutorial on HOW to make a specific project. Instead, we are going to look at the various aspects of the sewing/quilting process and offer tips and tricks as we go along.
What can you do to make this beneficial for you?
- Subscribe to our feeds so you get a notification every time a post goes live.
- Let us know what are some of YOUR pain points or questions when you start a new project. We will make every effort to address those issues and questions, especially if we know ahead of time!
- Share the link with your friends and on social media. Let's get our creative tribe together so we can help each other out with tips and tricks. I know as a quilting instructor, I often walk away from class having learned something from my students!
When will we be posting?
- The series begins next Wednesday, July 3rd. It is our PLAN (and you know that sometimes LIFE happens, right?!) to post every other Wednesday. At the end of each post, we'll let you know what the topic is for the next post!
